CHOICES are abundant at the Taman Sri Andalas Ramadan bazaar in Klang where about 270 food stalls take up Jalan Sri Sarawak.
As early as 4pm, a crowd throngs the bazaar in search of local delicacies to buka puasa (break fast) or enjoy for dinner.
Similar to other bazaars around the Klang Valley, this one is filled with stalls selling murtabak, nasi lemak, grilled chicken, Roti John and assortment of kuih.
It is always a matter of which stall has the longest line, and this is how most people decide where to buy food.
There is one stall that is different from the rest because it sells the famous Japanese street food, takoyaki.
Tako means octopus and yaki means flour, and it is not an uncommon sight in the local street food scene here.
This stall offers six varieties.
“I decided to sell takoyaki because it is unique at a Ramadan bazaar and also my speciality,” said Golden Takoyaki owner Erma Aiyrin Rusni who operates her stall from 4pm to 7.30pm daily until the eve of Hari Raya.
The 33-year-old said it was her fourth year selling takoyaki at events and Ramadan bazaars.
“I added more flavours this year and they are all my own original recipes,” she said.
She sells about 200 takoyaki balls daily and the original octopus filling has always been the bestseller.
The other flavours available are crab, chicken and cheese, prawn, salmon and beef.
The golden balls are priced at RM5 for five, and customers are allowed to mix and match the flavours.
However, it is RM10 for 12 pieces and there is an option to have free cheese sprinkled on top.
Apart from this bazaar in Klang, Erma has stalls at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in Puncak Alam, Puncak Perdana and Sungai Buloh.
