Apart from dressing comfortably, showcasing her individuality and creativity are model Nicole Rinai Joachim’s top priority when it comes to her personal style.

Calling her fashion sense a “mix of comfy and eclectic”, she enjoys putting together outfits that suit her daily life – juggling between her job, working on side projects that inspire her, and doing things for herself to fill her own cup.

“In between modelling and creating content, I’m low-key working on a slow fashion brand with my best friend, but we’re still in the development stages and constantly seeking inspiration,” says the 30-year-old Sarawakian.

What is your favourite go-to look?

I can’t resist a slightly loose and colourful dress paired with boots. This look is the ideal blend of vibrant energy and casual chic to me.

What are your three must-have style/beauty items?

Sunscreen is a must for me! A tote bag (because I carry around basically my whole world) and my pair of doc martens. These items have been my go-to for as long as I can remember.

What trend would you most like to see disappear?

I don’t really keep up with ongoing trends. So rather than seeing a trend disappear, I’d rather hope people around start to prioritise comfort and personal expression over following rigid fashion norms. Let’s encourage individuality and celebrate the unique styles that make each person special.

Who would you consider a style icon and why?

A style icon I admire is Helena Bonham Carter. I love how she effortlessly combines flowing maxi dresses, whimsical prints, and layered accessories to create an enchanting and eclectic look that is uniquely her own.

What are three key pieces everyone should have in their wardrobe?

Three key pieces that everyone should have in their wardrobe are a well-fitting pair of jeans, a versatile white shirt and a classic blazer. Jeans offer a casual yet stylish option for various occasions, while a white shirt can be dressed up or down. A blazer adds a touch of sophistication and can elevate any outfit.
