Having immersed herself in the music industry for 16 years, the talented singer, songwriter and music producer Amylea Azizan is no stranger to performing and has just as much experience in dressing up.

Most of the time, her stage style is more feminine, so when she isn’t performing she loves attire that is more masculine.

Platform boots and shoes are one of her favourite style staples, as well as oversized tops.

“I’m really comfortable dressing up in a boy-ish or androgynous way,” says Amylea in an email interview, adding that she loves layering tops.

1. What are your three must-have style/beauty items?

Big sweater, platform sneakers/boots or anything that has platforms! (Maybe because I’m short?)

2. What trend would you most like to see disappear?

Haha, I hate polo shirts and collars that cover your whole neck, I’m sorry, I want to burn them!

3. Who is your style icon? or What’s your inspiration?

G-Dragon! I love everything that he puts on, whether it’s for performing on stage, in music videos, his red carpet looks and even his daily attire and what he wears to the airports! Everything he wears is just so stylish, from his shoes to his accessories!

4. What are 3 key pieces everyone should have in their wardrobe?

1) Turtle necks, because it goes with a lot of things and can dramatically change your look when you mix and match. It also kind of brings a touch of demureness into everyday wear, but make sure it’s made of nice fabric in a good colour so it stands out and doesn’t wash out your look.

2) Boots. They elevate your style, even if you’re just in a plain white shirt and shorts, plus, they boost your confidence!

3) Accessories! A long necklace or rings will always transform your look and the same outfit can be styled to look different by a change of accessories, that’s power dressing!

5. Give us one style tip, or two

You have to choose a signature look that represents you, something that you can carry off on a daily basis. For every look, you must have a statement element, whether it’s a hairdo or accessories or shoes, but never put on too many statements into one look.

Dress appropriately according to the event or time of day, try not to be under-dressed when going to work or meeting people.
