From super absorbent Swedish dishcloth to reusable food bags, here are five things you can use to be kinder to the environment:

1. Cloth-based kitchen towels

Although convenient, paper towels are unkind to the environment and usually face a high turnover in the kitchen. A more sustainable option is switching to cotton napkins, microfibre cleaning cloths or just plain rags that you can rewash. Another good substitute is Swedish dishcloth, made of 100% naturally biodegradable cellulose or a combination of wood pulp and renewable cotton. What’s great about them is they are ultra-absorbent and each piece can potentially replace 17 rolls of paper towels. Plus, it can also be used to wash dishes, replacing regular sponges.
