Think you have what it takes to be a Michelin inspector: A tastemaker who can tell the difference between a mediocre meal and one that’s “exceptional and worth a journey”?

Michelin is hiring an inspector for one of the greatest dining capitals in the world – New York City.

Before you get too excited, the laundry list of job qualifications and requirements is long.

For example, the average Michelin inspector spends three weeks a month on the road, travelling the equivalent of about 30,580km a year, and eating 250 restaurant meals.

And it’s not good enough simply to be a sophisticated and galloping gourmand.

At the top of the job qualification list is a bachelor’s degree in culinary, food studies, hotel management or equivalent degree, plus at least five years of experience in the hotel or restaurant industry.

Not good at keeping secrets? You’ll find this job challenging as anonymity is likewise high on the list: “Integrity, discretion and respect for requirement of anonymity”.

Candidates must also be good writers and strong photographers. – AFP Relaxnews
