Cheng Peng Sia sketches his way around the globe at a ‘youthful’ 70!

Cheng says sketching in public has also taught him to be humble.

Smitten by wanderlust, artist Cheng Peng Sia, who turns 70 this October, has had many adventurous, interesting travels. From his first overseas trip to Nepal in the mid 1990s where he remembers experiencing culture shock when encountering young children walking to school barefoot, to going in search of his ancestral home in the outskirts of Guangzhou, China, with only a Teochew-speaking taxi driver as his guide, Cheng has loved collecting memories in different places.

His most recent trip was a plum one, when he got to visit and explore Provencal villages in the South of France and was literally able to walk in the footsteps of legendary Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh!
