Hong Kong actor Steve Lee Ka Ding recently fought back tears as he reflected on the death of his ex-wife, actress Frances Shi Ming.
In an interview with TVB, the 81-year-old became visibly emotional while recalling the moment he received news of her passing.
"I was devastated. I completely broke down. Everything went blurry, and my mind just went numb," he said.
Lee shared that his greatest regret was not being able to see Shi one last time before her death.
He also alleged that his eldest son Augustine, who's also an actor, had prevented others from visiting Shi during the final months of her life.
"In those last nine months, that unfilial child kept everyone away from her …
"I was so angry. I wanted to get up and slap him to death, but I held myself back because I was afraid I'd lose control," he said.
Earlier this month, Lee publicly severed ties with Augustine, accusing him of depleting his savings and withholding news of Shi's death for 10 days.
As the interview continued, Lee was unable to hold back his tears, saying Shi was the first woman he had ever loved.
"I will always love her. She should know how I treated her," he shared.
The actor added that he had hoped to take Shi travelling to fulfill one of her wishes, but doctors advised against it because her condition was too fragile for air travel.
Lee and Shi married in 1977 and divorced in 1994. The former couple have another younger son Gregory, who's also an actor.
Discussing the reason for their divorce, Lee said a misunderstanding about money had caused a rift in their marriage.
He also revealed that he had tried to reconcile with Shi on eight separate occasions and even flew all the way to Los Angeles in July 1998 to win her back.
