Despite being married to Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau, former Malaysian model Carol Chu continues to win over many with her simplicity and living modestly.

According to HK01, the 60-year-old, who seldom appears in public, was recently seen grocery shopping at a supermarket with a domestic helper.

Photos circulating on social media showed Chu dressed casually in a white T-shirt, loose black pants and sneakers, with a face mask concealing her identity.

A netizen who happened to come across Chu said they didn't recognise her at first due to her low-key and understated appearance.

"For a 60-year-old, her skin practically glows, and her hair is thick, black and healthy. She really doesn't look her age at all," the user said, as quoted by Singapore news outlet 8days.

They added that they had always assumed a superstar's wife would live lavishly, dining only on specially sourced food and having a refrigerator as large as a walk-in freezer.

Instead, they were impressed to see Chu personally picking out groceries, dressing modestly and not showing off.

"Despite being so wealthy, she still comes to the supermarket to shop for things herself. She lives even more low-key than ordinary people like us," they said.

Many netizens quickly flooded the comments section with praise for Chu, commending her well-maintained appearance and leading a grounded lifestyle.

Lau, 64, and Chu secretly registered their marriage in 2008 after many years of dating.

The couple, who largely keep their private lives out of the spotlight, share a 14-year-old daughter Hanna.
