Hong Kong actress Amy Yip received an early birthday celebration by friends during her recent visit to Malaysia.
The former Category III star, who turns 60 on July 10, was in Penang for the reopening of the Loke Thye Kee Heritage Hotel on June 9.
According to China Press, the hotel features a guest room named after Yip – who serves as one of the establishment's directors.
Other rooms will eventually be named after internationally renowned artistes.
Speaking to local media, Yip said it was her first time marking her birthday in Malaysia.
She also voiced her plans to visit Penang more frequently in the near future as she expands her hotel business.
Yip opened her first boutique hotel in Penang in September 2024 and is currently developing a durian-themed establishment.
On her birthday wish, Yip said aside from maintaining good health, she hopes the next chapter of her life will be even more exciting.
"My biggest goal now is to keep learning and build a strong foundation for my hotel business," she added.
When asked about her favourite Malaysian food, Yip admitted that it wasn't durian but freshwater fish such as patin and empurau.
"They're so delicious. I've already eaten durian twice during this current trip but still haven't had the chance to enjoy freshwater fish," she said.
Looking ahead, Yip said she remains open to acting if the right script comes along.
"Of course, I'll be happy if there are acting opportunities. If not, I'll just go with the flow.
"I think people shouldn't stress themselves too much. Life is happier when you let things happen naturally," she said.
