Hong Kong star Sammi Cheng just can't seem to catch a break this month.
Her highly anticipated three-day concert at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Stadium (July 10-12) was postponed after a stage malfunction during setup raised safety concerns.
Now, the Cantopop diva has been dealt another major setback after the master footage for one of her latest music videos was lost.
Cheng had travelled to Japan to film music videos for two of her songs, hoping to enjoy a short break after her gruelling concert schedule. Kai Tak Stadium was the final stop of her Asia Tour, which included a Malaysia stop.
Instead, she was met with devastating news.
The 53-year-old shared on Instagram on July 26 that she was left almost "wanting to pass out" after learning the footage had disappeared, according to a translation by Hong Kong portal The Standard.
"The terrible news was that one of the MVs filmed in Japan was gone," she wrote.
Cheng said everything had gone smoothly during filming, with even the weather working in their favour.
"Having to do it again would be difficult. But the footage is gone. I was told that everything we filmed was gone. Not a single bit was left."
She joked that she had "won the jackpot twice" this month, though not in a good way.
Despite the setback, Cheng has chosen to remain composed and is focused on finding a way to salvage the situation instead of dwelling on the loss.
After all, she is someone who had turned her postponed Kai Tak concert into a three-night fan meeting featuring intimate performances and interactions with fans.
"Don't blame anyone, and I don't want to blame anyone. It won't help. Stay calm and deal with the matter first – that is more important," she wrote, earning praise from fans for staying positive despite another unexpected challenge.
