Two decades after winning her first TVB Best Actress award, Charmaine Sheh continues to be one of Hong Kong’s most recognisable actresses.
The 51-year-old actress reminisced about her career journey during a media interview at Ngong Ping 360’s 20th anniversary celebration on July 24, where she appeared as the attraction’s ambassador.
Ngong Ping 360 is a famous 5.7km cable car ride in Hong Kong that offers a gorgeous view of the mountains, the sea and a cultural village.
She also took to Instagram of the milestone celebration that marked an important moment in Sheh’s career – her first TVB Best Actress win in 2006 for Maidens’ Vow.
(The actress has since gone on to win the same award three more times — for Line Walker in 2014, The Queen Of News Season 1 in 2023 and The Queen Of News Season 2 in 2025.)
Sheh wrote on Instagram: “Twenty years really flew by in the blink of an eye.
“I still remember when Ngong Ping 360 first opened 20 years ago. It was also the year I won my first TVB Best Actress award. We've grown alongside each other over the years – constantly striving to innovate while staying true to and preserving our local cultural heritage.”
According to The Standard, the event also saw Sheh reunite with her War And Beauty (2004) co-star Bowie Lam.
She said meeting Lam brought back memories of their time working together, adding that it felt familiar despite the pair not having shared the screen for many years. She hoped that they would have the chance to collaborate again in the future.
During the interview, Sheh also paid tribute to veteran actor Patrick Tse Yin, who passed away on July 16 at the age of 89.
Describing him as a generous and dedicated performer, Sheh recalled how Tse was always cheerful on set and supportive of younger actors.
She shared that he would often treat the younger cast members to Korean barbeque after filming and encouraged everyone to give their best performances.
After the event, Sheh took time to greet fans who had gathered outside the media area. She posed for selfies, made heart gestures and joined group photos before leaving.
