Hong Kong actress Jessica Hsuan is once again playing a role that involves her getting kidnapped.

In her latest drama, The Queen Of Castle, the 55-year-old star plays a renowned cardiac surgeon who, yes – gets taken.

No surprise then that fans have jokingly crowned her the “Queen of Hostage”, as she’s been tied up or held captive 27 times throughout her 30-year career.

Referring to her current role, Hsuan laughed that it has become “a special kind of experience.”

“It’s quite interesting! Every time I’m tied up by a different person, it feels like a new and special experience,” she said as reported by Sin Chew Daily.

The series has been performing impressively, averaging 21 rating points in Hong Kong and amassing over 200 million views in mainland China, stated the article.

Hsuan revealed that due to the show’s success, she has been kept busy with promotional activities – even though she’s due to undergo a minor surgery soon.

Speaking about the intense scene where her character is kidnapped and forced to perform surgery on a patient inside a shipping container, she said: “Filming inside the container wasn’t easy – the set was cramped, hot and stuffy, with no air-conditioning.”

She added of another challenge: “Since I play a surgeon, I also had to memorise a lot of medical jargon used by professionals.”

Guess filming a scene where her character is kidnapped is the least of Hsuan's concern.
