Dylan Walsh, an actor best known for playing Dr. Sean McNamara on Nip/Tuck, was involved in a car crash with his family on Aug 17 along the north Jersey Shore.

The accident happened at around 5 pm Aug 17 in Rumson, when a 2022 Ford Explorer with five passengers travelling northbound veered into another lane and struck a utility police along East River Road, the local Patch reported. But the vehicle did not stop there, it continued on until it struck a second utility pole nearby, police said.

Photos obtained by TMZ show the SUV with its front end smashed in and one of the utility poles lying on the side of the road.

The crash later forced authorities to close down the area until Tuesday while Jersey Central Power & Light crews replaced the damaged utility poles, which left several homes without power.

Rumson Police Lt. Christopher Isherwood confirmed two passengers were taken to Riverview Medical Center with complaints of pain in the wake of the incident. The injured were not identified, but authorities have since said the driver of the vehicle was Walsh, who was “subsequently issued several motor vehicle summonses.”

In a statement to People, a representative for the Blue Bloods alum confirmed he was “involved in a car accident in Rumson.”

“Thankfully, everyone is safe and has since returned home,” the statement continues. “The family is deeply grateful for the swift response of the Rumson Police, Fire Department, and EMS, as well as the staff at Riverview Medical Center for their care.”

The family “would also like to extend a special thank-you to the management and staff of The River Point Inn for their support in the immediate aftermath,” it concluded.

Walsh is married to Leslie Bourque-Walsh and they share daughter Amelie Belle and son Hudson Scott. The actor is also father to Thomas and Joanna Walsh, whom he shares with ex-wife Melora Walters.

It’s not clear whether any of the kids were in the car at the time of the accident. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
