American actress Alexandra Daddario told StarLifestyle in a recent video interview that she’s at a point in her life where she’d like to start a family.
The 35-year-old star, who is currently dating movie producer Andrew Form, also shared her ideal honeymoon vacation in the same interview that was joined by a group of South-East Asian journalists.
“I like adventures. And I get to have a lot of adventures. (But) I was saying this to my boyfriend actually. I was like, ‘If we ever go on a honeymoon, we should just do it in (Los Angeles) and stay home’,” she said.
She went on: “The two of us are constantly on the road and we travel so much... so I was like, ‘It would be great just to sit at home and do nothing for a couple of weeks... and be with family’. And so, strangely, that’s like my ideal honeymoon.”
Daddario’s real-life dream honeymoon is the total opposite of what her character in the HBO series The White Lotus, finds herself in.
The six-episode show – written and directed by Mike White (Enlightened) – is described as a social satire set at an exclusive Hawaiian resort.
Audiences follow wealthy American vacationers over the course of one week at the paradise- like location which includes newlyweds Shane Patton (Jake Lacy) and his beautiful bride Rachel (Daddario), who’ve come to the hotel for their honeymoon.
In the first episode, it’s revealed that Shane and Rachel got married after a brief courtship.
Cracks in their relationship start to form as soon as they get to this new, intimate environment.

As Rachel is filled with doubt about the marriage, her “fairytale honeymoon” becomes something else very quickly.
According to Daddario, wanting to figure out how Rachel got herself into that situation was exactly the kind of assignment she likes to take on as an actress.
“I like the challenge (of playing a complex character). So, diving into who she was and what she believed in was great fun actually,” elaborated Daddario, whose first major role was in the 2010 film Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
“I really wanted to understand how Rachel got into this marriage, to the degree – on her honeymoon, directly after the wedding – she’s not sure if she’s doing the right thing,” she explained of her approach to portraying Rachel.
“I wanted her to feel more and more frantic and more and more anxious as the six episodes went along.”
While Daddario may not have much in common with Rachel, the actress remarked she can relate to being in a relationship when she’s not totally confident of it.
“I think that’s very common; where you’re in a relationship for a little while and things are sort of OK but you’re not that happy but you’re scared to get out of it and you’re not sure why.
“I think it’s because you don’t have enough perspective,” she theorised.
“You’re scared of what else is out there, you’re scared of being alone. But yes, I certainly have been in at least one relationship where I was certainly doubting the relationship and scared to get out of it, or scared that my instincts were wrong.
“So, I can relate to that and the anxiety that causes.”
While she has acted for more than a decade, Daddario did experience something totally new with The White Lotus – filming during the Covid-19 pandemic.
It started with an audition process that was done over Zoom, before the whole cast and crew were whisked to Hawaii for the shoot under rigorous filming rules.
Even though Daddario admitted she was excited to be working – “I did not think that I was going to work during Covid-19” – the filming experience during the pandemic proved to be quite tough.
She explained: “With the quarantine in Hawaii, because you’re in this beautiful place – and also shooting a show about very privileged people – you don’t want to feel unhappy because you know how lucky you are.
“But, the isolation was quite difficult because you are scared of getting people sick, you’re scared of testing positive, and you can’t be within six feet of anybody.
“So, the isolation during the quarantine, that was the most difficult part.”
Naturally, the strict protocols continued during filming as well as no one was allowed to leave the filming location, which was at the Four Seasons Resort in Maui.
“We were really stuck for two-and-a-half months just on the property.
“There was the beach, but we couldn’t go out for a drive. We couldn’t leave the hotel and were sort of going through life without our families and friends.
“But, I’m grateful that there were such incredible people there because we all leaned on each other... And I feel very lucky to have done something like that under these kinds of circumstances with such great people.”
The White Lotus cast includes Murray Bartlett, Connie Britton, Jennifer Coolidge, Fred Hechinger, Brittany O’Grady, Natasha Rothwell, Sydney Sweeney and Steve Zahn.
Daddario shares her screen time not only with actor Lacy, who plays her husband on the show, but also with Britton and Bartlett.

Despite the challenges of current times, Daddario confessed the pandemic has given her a fresh outlook of where she wants to take her career.
“I have chosen some jobs just to work. I’ve chosen some jobs just to have an experience. I like to keep busy.
“I’m almost hysterical with work or have been in the past where I just need to constantly work and never be home. I’m sure I’m distracting myself from something,” she professed with a smile.
“But as I move forward – and especially after the last 18 months – it’s made me evaluate what I want to do.
“And I think that the main thing I want to do more of is, working with people like Mike White, who really know exactly the story they’re trying to tell, and exactly what they’re trying to do with the project,” the Baywatch star disclosed.
“It doesn’t matter to me if it’s a horror or a disaster film or a little drama or whatever the case may be, as long as the person in charge, the director, is telling a really cool story that I can help tell.”
The six-episode limited series The White Lotus is available on HBO GO.
