Celebrating Merdeka and Malaysia Day will be a little different this year, with Covid-19 cases still on the rise.
To encourage Malaysians to ring in the occasion safely at their homes, YouTube has partnered with a number of top Malaysian content producers to bring the best of local entertainment on its platform.
Beginning Aug 15 to Sept 16, a variety of local content will be streamed live on Google Malaysia's YouTube channel and its partners' YouTube channels, as part of the YouTube Super Stream initiative.
Interested in Malaysian cinema? Sink your teeth into the creme de la cream of local films like Bunohan, Malaysia's official entry at the 2013 Oscars' Best Foreign-language Film category.
There are a total of 50 local blockbusters made available by WebTVAsia between Aug 29 and Sept 16.
What about local TV shows? Media Prima is making all episodes of top titles like Seindah 7 Warna Pelangi and Cari Aku Di Syurga available between Aug 17 and Aug 23.
You can also walk down memory lane with iconic 1990s comedy sketch show Senario between Aug 24 and Sept 1.
Astro has also lined up its drama Setelah Terlafaznya Akad, talk show Next To Neelofa, reality series The House Season Five to name a few for Malaysians from Sept 1 to Sept 14.
Are you a fan of anime? Muse Malaysia is bringing viewers new episodes of big titles like One Punch Man and That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime, complete with Bahasa Malaysia subtitles, between Aug 15 and Sept 1.
In a virtual press conference announcing the initiative, YouTube's manager for content partnerships (Malaysia and Singapore) Yang Jin-ah noted that the video-sharing platform is introducing such an initiative for the first time ever in only two countries - Malaysia and The Philippines.
