The pandemic has impacted people all across the world, economically and socially.

The situation has inspired Particle Pte Ltd, in collaboration with Fondazione ICA Milano, to organise an art exhibition called Fragilita, which investigate the concept of fragility in contemporary art production.

Italy’s ambassador to Malaysia, Cristiano Maggipinto, said four Italian and four Malaysian artists are involved in the ongoing online art exhibition which can be viewed here.

“Art and culture are important because they can help us to deal and to cope with the pandemic. We all feel more fragile because of the pandemic.

“In many cases, pandemic can happen and we should be ready, so we highlighted the fragility of the human condition from this point of view, ” said Maggipinto recently.

Supported by the Italian Embassy in Malaysia, Maggipinto said the exhibition was initially planned to be held in Kuala Lumpur but subsequently suspended due to the Covid-19 situation.Fragilita is curated by Alberto Salvadori, director of Fondazione ICA Milano, Luigi Fassi, director of MAN in Nuoro, and Lim Wei Ling, director of the Lim Wei Ling Gallery in KL.

The artists involved are Anida Yoeu Ali, Riccardo Benassi, Anurendra Jegadeva, MASBEDO, Maria D. Rapicavoli, Wong Chee Meng, Francesco Simeti, and Rajinder Singh.

Maggipinto said another art exhibition that highlights the concept of sustainability will be launched in September or October this year, in conjunction with the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) to be held in Glasgow.

“As co-partner, Italy will organise a pre-COP26 meeting and a youth event in Milan at the end

of September which is called Youth 4 Climate. Malaysian representatives will also participate in the event.

“Through this project, we want to highlight the concept of sustainability through cultural cooperation between Italy and Malaysia, ” said Maggipinto. – Bernama
