Sorry, Iron Man, Batman is the richest superhero around, according to British bank Vanquis.

The bank has come up with a way to calculate just how much the alter-egos of Marvel and DC superheroes earn, with Bruce Wayne coming up tops ahead of Tony Stark.

"We’ve all got our favourite superheroes, but what happens when they take off the mask? Being a hero might be a noble pursuit, but it doesn’t always help pay the bills," goes the introduction on a website the bank set up for this fun endeavour.

"We’ve looked at 24 of the most popular and well-known superheroes and calculated just how much money they’d earn from their day job."
