Kuala Lumpur-based theatre company Liver and Lung Productions, which was behind Sepet The Musical, is meeting the masses daily (8pm) through a podcast Finding Fabulous.
Hosted by Liver and Lung co-founders Hannah Shields, from Britain, and Malaysian Shafeeq Shajahan, the podcast is available on Spotify and Apple Music. It will run until the Government's movement control order ends.
“If social distancing and isolation has left you feeling a little lost, join us every day as we unpick creative concepts that inspire us," says Shafeeq, writer, director and composer of Sepet The Musical.
"We sure hope that Finding Fabulous allows audiences to inject some spirit into this very bleak period of our history. So far, our topics have ranged from family values to superheroes," he adds.
Each Finding Fabulous episode dissects a creative idea and ends with a tribute to an Idol of The Day, which has already featured celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Audrey Hepburn and Siti Nurhaliza.
“In distressing times, audiences are looking for fun and lighthearted ways to escape and end their day. With a run time of about 25 minutes, Finding Fabulous provides listeners with a chance to decompress and focus on wellbeing as the world around us becomes more chaotic day by day, ” says Shields.
Liver and Lung Productions were supposed to relaunch its Malaya Relived series at GMBB in KL in mid-April. The trilogy was supposed to run for six weeks. It also had to cancel the launch of its new cabaret Clinic at BoboKL in early April. This cabaret was selected for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Macau Black Box Festival this summer.
"We would have been the first Malaysian production to tour to the prestigious Underbelly venue at EdFringe," says Shafeeq.
No rearranged dates have been set yet for these cancelled show.
