SEAFOOD, with its briny and delicate flavours, gets many diners awash with delight.
Those wanting a taste of the sea can indulge at the Eat-All-You-Can Seafood Live Cooking buffet of Spice Market Cafe at Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang.
Let the cold seafood counter be your first port of call as there are mounds of cooked prawns, scallops, green-lipped mussels and flower crabs waiting to be devoured.
Do not pass up some salmon, tuna, butter fish or abalone sashimi along the way nor the other marine morsels served on trays or prepared a la minute across the cafe’s show kitchens.
Baked Lobster is a crowd favourite alongside Roasted Sambal Fish with Air Asam, Singapore Chilli Crabs, Spicy Nestum Prawns, Tomyam Steamed Fish and Grilled Squid.
Diners may find Tandoori Fish or Fish Tikka at the Indian corner as well as Penang Asam Laksa and Spicy Prawn Mee from the noodles counter.
But variety is the spice of life so there are also meat items like Braised BBQ Ribs, Walnut-breaded Lamb Cutlets with Mint Jus, Chicken Roulade with Truffle Sauce, Teriyaki Roasted Duck Breast or Briyani Rice with Lamb Curry.
Desserts are a lovely mix of local and Western sweets from French pastries and continental cakes to ais kacang, banana apom and ice cream.
The Eat-All-You-Can Seafood Live Cooking buffet is served every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6pm to 10pm and priced at RM196 for adults and RM98 for children (includes free flow of selected beverages).
Diners can top up RM138 each to enjoy free flow of beer and wine.
Currently, there is a Dine 4-Pay 3 promotion for adult diners only (not applicable on public holidays and eves). Shangri-La Circle members enjoy 20% off.
