A HOTEL in Kuala Lumpur is inviting guests to rediscover Malaysia through its food and dining experience.
From the design details and heritage found throughout The Ruma Hotel, to the familiar flavours and multicultural influences that come alive across its dining experiences, they trace the same journey Malaysia has taken, where many cultures and influences become part of one identity.
Afternoon tea arrived in Malaysia as a colonial-era influence. At The Librari restaurant, that tradition carries a story of its own.
Chapters of Ruma Afternoon Tea invites guests to uncover the stories held within the hotel itself, from its Malaysian heritage to the history of tin mining that shaped Kuala Lumpur.
Presented on a handcrafted congkak board made by a local Malaysian artisan, each hollow holds a selection of Malaysian-inspired flavours and artisanal creations.

The experience is brought to life through an interactive menu inspired by the paper fortune-teller game (also called origami fortune teller), a playful nod to a childhood pursuit many Malaysians grew up with, turning afternoon tea into a small journey of discovery, with every fold revealing a new story woven into the hotel’s design.
Guests dressed in traditional Malaysian attire can enjoy 10% savings, the hotel’s way of celebrating the beauty and diversity of the country.
Chapters of Ruma Afternoon Tea is served at The Librari until Nov 15, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, and 3.30pm to 5.30pm.
It is priced from RM168+ per person.
Inspired by the character of one of Kuala Lumpur’s most storied neighbourhoods, the hotel’s Atas restaurant also brings the familiar flavours of Malaysia to the table through a collaboration with The Chow Kit Kitchen and Bar.
Guests can experience The Towkay Table, a curated two-course set lunch inspired by the tradition of towkays gathering over food and conversation, or choose regional favourites such as Johor Laksa, Ikan Assam Pedas and Nyonya Kari Kapitan.
The collaborative menu is served at Atas until Nov 15, Mondays to Saturdays, from noon to 2.30pm.
