Master Tec posts 21.5% rise in 2Q net profit

KUALA LUMPUR: Master TEC Group Bhd posted a 21.5% increase in net profit to RM8.41mil for the second quarter ended June 30, 2026 (2Q26), from RM6.92mil a year earlier.

The cable manufacturer said its revenue rose 34% to RM140.5mil from RM104.82mil, driven by higher contributions from all three business segments.

The manufacturing segment remained the largest contributor, with revenue rising 33.6% to RM121.6mil, supported by demand for cable products from the infrastructure, utilities, construction, telecommunications, renewable energy, industrial and data centre sectors.

Trading revenue increased 11.2% to RM9.95mil, while contract revenue jumped 85.1% to RM8.94mil on higher contracts and engineering-related works recognised during the quarter.

For the first six months of 2026, net profit rose 21.3% to RM13.81mil from RM11.39mil, while revenue increased 32.3% to RM231.66mil from RM175.06mil.

Managing director Datuk Lau Kim San said the group was encouraged by its stronger second-quarter performance, with improved contributions from the manufacturing and contract revenue segments.

“The significant improvement from the preceding quarter reflects the recovery in business activities following the festive season, alongside continued demand for our cable products across key sectors including infrastructure, utilities, renewable energy and data centres,” he said in a statement.

Looking ahead, Master Tec said it would focus on improving operational efficiency and production capabilities, while investing in machinery, equipment and manufacturing facilities.

Its subsidiary Sediacom Sdn Bhd will continue to undertake telecommunications and engineering-related works, including horizontal directional drilling and fibre optic infrastructure projects.

The board declared a first interim single-tier dividend of one sen per share, amounting to about RM10.2mil, payable on Sept 9.
