EG Industries bags RM547mil purchase order from key customer


KUALA LUMPUR: EG Industries Bhd said its wholly-owned subsidiary SMT Technologies Sdn Bhd has secured a US$117mil (RM547.17mil) confirmed purchase order for 5G photonics related products from an existing key customer.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, it said the customer is a global industry leader with expertise in industry leading research and development and cutting-edge manufacturing for, among others, optical modules, wireless access broadband, carrier ethernet and edge computing.

The purchase order, which is expected to be fulfilled in tranches over the next 12 months, is expected to contribute positively to the group's earnings and net assets for the financial year ending June 30, 2025.

Shares in EG Industries were last traded eight sen higher at RM2.30 apiece before the lunch break, after 1.7 million shares changed hands.
