Rain and strong winds lower temperatures in Pakistan’s twin cities

RAWALPINDI: Gusty winds and rain in different parts of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad brought down temperatures.

Clouds appeared in the evening, and rain began at 6.25pm, continuing for half an hour and bringing the temperature down to 21 degrees Celsius.

A Met Office official said a shallow westerly wave had approached the region and might persist until Saturday night.

“Partly cloudy weather with rain, wind and thunderstorms is likely at isolated places in upper Punjab, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Dry weather is expected in other parts of the country,” he said.

The official said temperatures were expected to drop further. The temperature was recorded at 30 degrees Celsius in the morning but fell to 21 degrees Celsius following the rain and westerly winds.

He said there were chances of rain on Saturday morning and evening, with isolated showers expected in different parts of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. - The Dawn/ANN
