BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A total of 19 members of the Brunei Darussalam Amateur Radio Association (BDARA) participated in the first-ever in-house Amateur Radio Direction Finding (ARDF) Slalom Fox Hunting training session held on Oct 11 at the Brunei Darussalam National Scout Association Grandstand in Kampong Mata-Mata.

The ARDF Slalom Fox Hunting is a radio sport that combines radio direction-finding techniques with map-reading and compass-navigation skills.

The training saw participants navigating through wooded areas using topographic maps and magnetic compasses to locate hidden radio transmitters, aiming to enhance members’ knowledge and practical capabilities in pinpointing transmitters operating on specific radio frequencies.

The programme also served as preparation for the Jamboree on the Air and Jamboree on the Internet, scheduled to take place over the weekend.

BDARA President Major (Rtd) Tamat Lampoh and BDARA Deputy President Abd Jamal Abd Rahman were present during the session.

The training was conducted by the association’s Technical Division, comprising Mohd Damarol Mohd Ali, Abd Rahman Hassan, Mahatir Ariffin, and Pengiran Aziz Mohammad. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
