BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Brunei King Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah received in audience Singapore’s Acting Minister-in-Charge of Muslim Affairs and Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of Defence Zaqy Mohamad at Istana Nurul Iman on Monday.
During the audience, His Majesty and Zaqy discussed enhancing cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and Singapore in areas of mutual interest.
His Majesty also expressed Brunei Darussalam’s support for Singapore as the ASEAN Chair in 2027.
Zaqy was accompanied by Singapore High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Yip Wei Kiat and Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) Chief Executive Kadir Maideen.
Also present were Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Mohammad Tashim Hassan and Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Dr Haji Mohammed Hussain Ahmad.
Zaqy is on a three-day introductory visit to Brunei Darussalam from October 11 to 13, marking his first visit in his current capacity.
The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation, including through the signing of a memorandum of understanding on the recognition of halal certification and areas of cooperation between the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) and MUIS. -- Borneo Bulletin/ANN
