China congratulates Brunei on country's 41st anniversary of independence

BEIJING/BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Xinhua): Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi extended on Sunday his congratulations to Erywan Yusof, second minister of foreign affairs of Brunei Darussalam, on the country's 41st anniversary of independence.

In his congratulatory message, Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said China and Brunei enjoy a long-standing traditional friendship and are good friends and partners of mutual respect and win-win cooperation.

In recent times, the King of Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah paid a successful state visit to China, during which he and Chinese President Xi Jinping reached important consensus on jointly building a China-Brunei community with a shared future, drawing a new blueprint for the development of bilateral relations, Wang said.

Wang added that he stands ready to work with Erywan to follow through on the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, deepen bilateral cooperation in various fields, and strengthen coordination on global and regional affairs to push for greater development of the building of a China-Brunei community with a shared future. - Xinhua
