PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times): Bruneian Monarch Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah will make a short trip to Cambodia after his official visit to Thailand and is expected to be in the capital on Monday (April 29) morning.

Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen wrote on his social media platforms on Saturday (Apr 27) that he is very excited to welcome Sultan Hassanal, whom he consider a very good friend.

“The purpose of the king’s visit is to have breakfast with Hun Sen, whom the king regards as his youngest brother (the Bruneian king is the eldest brother, followed by Thaksin as the second brother, and Samdech Techo as the youngest).”

No official meeting is scheduled. The breakfast meeting will be attended by Bruneian Prince Abdul Mateen and Hun Sen’s sons, namely Hun Manet, Hun Manith, and Hun Many.

After breakfast, Hun Sen Samdech Techo will accompany the king to the airport for his return to his country.

The Senate president mentioned that upon the king’s arrival in Cambodia on Monday, April 29, 2024, he will welcome him at the airport and transport him to the hotel.

He confirmed that such a gesture is not unusual, as in 2011, when Samdech went to Brunei, the king drove himself to meet Samdech at the airport and transport him to the hotel. - Khmer Times
