SHOAS Bridge now accessible to all private, commercial vehicles

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/Asia News Network): Foreign registered private and commercial vehicles in I, III, IV, VI and XII classes similar to Brunei are now allowed to use the Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien (SHOAS) Bridge.

The announcement was made on Wednesday (Sept 14) by the Management Committee of SHOAS Bridge, co-chaired by the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications and Ministry of Development in a press statement on the updates of the usage of the bridge.

The statement added that all vehicles registered in Brunei in the classes of I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII and XII are allowed to use the bridge.

Meanwhile, foreign commercial vehicles – classes II and V weighing over 3,500 kilogrammes – are not allowed to use the bridge and are advised to use the permitted route, Asean Highway 150 or AH150 through Limbang.

Road users must abide by the speed limit of 100-kilometre per hour (km/h) for normal vehicles and 80km/h for commercial vehicles.

Public cooperation is urged to maintain the safety and well-being of users of the bridge.
