Kampung or Town Chinese?

In Kelantan, the Chinese see themselves as either Cina Kampung (village Chinese) or Cina Bandar (town Chinese), according to University Kebangsaan Malaysia sociolinguist Associate Professor Teo Kok Seong. 

“In other parts of Malaysia, the Chinese see themselves as either Hokkiens, Cantonese, or Hakka etc, but not in Kelantan,” he says, although mostly all Cina Kampung are Hokkiens.
