Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (Digi) has introduced a range of home fibre plans with speeds maxing out at 1Gbps.

The Digi Internet Freedom plan comes in three tiers: the 130 plan for RM130 a month, 190 plan for RM190 a month, and 290 plan for RM290 a month.

The telco stated in an FAQ that the upload and download speeds were up to 50Mpbs (megabits per second) and 100Mbps respectively for the 130 plan, up to 200Mbps and 500Mbps respectively for the 190 plan, and up to 200Mbps and 1Gbps (gigabits per second) respectively for the 290 plan.

Digi stated that the 130 plan was more suited to light Internet users, the 190 plan works for 4K video streaming and online gaming, while the 290 plan can support ultra fast broadband for up to 10 devices simultaneously.

All plans come with unlimited data quotas.

Digi Postpaid 80 and above subscribers who sign up for the 190 or 290 home fiber plan will also receive a discount on their postpaid line.

The more postpaid lines they have, the larger the discount will be on the principal line: one line nets a 5% discount, two lines gets 10% off, while customers with three lines or more get 20% off.

Digi chief marketing officer Loh Keh Jiat said the plans corresponded to customer demands for savings on fibre Internet and postpaid plans, plus free digital services.

Subscribers to the Digi Internet Freedom plan are eligible for a free six-month subscription to Amazon Prime Video worth RM162, which gives them access to movies, TV shows and Amazon Originals.

After the complimentary six-month subscription expires, customers may renew it through Digi’s EasyAdd service at RM27 per month.

Currently, Digi Internet Freedom is available for customers in selected areas within the Klang Valley, Penang, and Sabah.

The plans come with a 24-month contract which includes free standard installation, a modem and a router, which has a 12-month warranty.
