AS Hari Raya Aidilfitri draws near, institutions and public agencies such as the traffic police work tirelessly to maintain public order so that everyone can safely return home to spend the festive season with their loved ones.
Ensuring that their hard work does not go unnoticed, FGV Holdings Bhd teamed up with the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to organise a breaking fast event on March 17, following the joint launch of Op Selamat 26 in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
This collaboration marks the first between FGV and the traffic police, an expansion of the existing corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives by the agribusiness group for the community.
The programme supports the Op Selamat initiative while recognising the dedication of traffic police personnel who continue to work throughout the festive season and strengthens corporate relationships between FGV and enforcement agencies for the well-being of the community.
On March 17, 2,000 packs of bubur lambuk were distributed to traffic police and the public at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, outside the Sogo complex and at the Tun H.S. Lee police station, fostering a stronger communal spirit of breaking fast together.
“As a member of the community, FGV felt that this year was the right time to provide support and show appreciation to the heroes in this area, namely, the traffic police, who help improve traffic flow across the country and in the capital, especially during the holiday season.
“If we can make the traffic police happy, the impact on the community will be the same,” said FGV Holdings Bhd chief strategic communication officer Azmi Yaakop.

The spirit of togetherness
A staple of Ramadan, bubur lambuk holds a special place amongst those who observe the holy month.
For the occasion, the dish was prepared through a gotong-royong cooking activity at the Tun H.S. Lee police station, involving FGV and traffic police members and using FGV products, including Saji Aroma fragrant rice, Prai sugar, Saji cooking oil, Saji coconut milk and Saji Mountain salt.
The gotong-royong not only provided food for traffic officers and the community to break fast over, but also expressed the spirit of togetherness, a core of FGV’s initiative.
“They are the unsung heroes whose contributions are often overlooked.
“We play our role as a responsible corporate company and offer encouragement, even if it's not much, to ease their burden during this demanding period,” said Azmi.

Following the breaking fast event, Ramadan aid was presented to 40 needy recipients, such as widows, orphans and persons with disabilities (PWD) – including RM200 in cash and various FGV food products, including rice, cooking oil, ketupat, creamer, sugar, salt and margarine.
Also distributed were duit raya to 150 children of traffic police officers, reflecting FGV’s concern for the well-being of the families of the traffic police.
In addition to providing support to the community throughout the country under the ‘FGV Seikhlas Hati’ initiative, FGV also provides funding during the flood season, support for needy children and cooperation with related agencies.
