AFA: Automatic Fuel Adjustment explained


THE Imbalance Cost Pass-Through (ICPT) mechanism has been replaced with the Automatic Fuel Adjustment (AFA) to ensure electricity tariffs are more transparent, fair and responsive to current market fuel prices and foreign exchange rates.

With AFA, consumers can expect bills that reflect more accurate energy costs, smoother adjustments to avoid sudden price fluctuations, and encouragement towards smarter energy use.

The AFA rate is validated and declared monthly by the Energy Commission. Consumers can check the latest rate along with three-month projections on the myTNB website.
