BRDB continues its legacy in the historic enclave of Taman Duta with Eden
SITTING adjacent to Bukit Tunku, where cafes and restaurants now animate its outer streets, is Taman Duta, a discreet leafy enclave set quietly apart.
Behind the tree-lined roads and mature landscape lies a layered history of decades-long development and distinction.
Together, they lend to its charm and quiet opulence, where nostalgia and serenity coexist, reinforcing its standing as one of Kuala Lumpur’s most enduring residential addresses.
As such, for developers building within Taman Duta, the task is not about reinvention but stewardship – an understanding that every addition must fit in with what already exists.
To BRDB Developments Sdn Bhd (BRDB), Taman Duta embodies a certain discretion and maturity that is increasingly rare in Kuala Lumpur, says its group chief executive officer Christopher Manivannan.
“To develop here is both a privilege and a responsibility. We are acutely aware that we are contributing to a neighbourhood with history, character and an existing community. That awareness informs every decision we make.”
Its latest project, Eden Taman Duta, is a RM1.52bil low-rise residential development set on 4.95ha (12.25 acres) of freehold land along Jalan Gallagher. It will feature a total of 146 units of exclusive villas across eight towers that are designed for multigenerational living.
“In a mature enclave, the aim is not to stand out, but to belong. Respecting the existing scale, preserving the landscape and ensuring each addition sits naturally within its surroundings guides our planning from the very start,” Christopher adds.
Like the rest of BRDB’s projects, the company has taken its time with the planning and designing of Eden Taman Duta to ensure that it features their DNA, blending harmonious designs that are functional with refined living standards.
BRDB acquired the site in 1997, choosing to hold the land until the timing and concept aligned with the character of Taman Duta and the neighbouring Bukit Tunku area.
“Having shaped parts of Bangsar and Kuala Lumpur for over six decades, we understand that prime land requires patience, conviction, and above all, prudence.
“We think beyond market cycles. Our focus is on contributing meaningfully to the city’s fabric over the long term. The BRDB name carries expectations, and that legacy compels us to approach each project with care, integrity and responsibility.”

Building a legacy within a legacy
Eden Taman Duta, slated for completion in 2030, was conceived as a private sanctuary where residents can transition from the tempo of the city into an environment defined by seclusion and privacy.
Bringing this vision to life is BRDB’s collaboration with globally renowned brands and master artisans.
These include German names with decades, and in some cases centuries, of heritage, such as Poggenpohl, known for its modern kitchen systems; Gaggenau, a specialised kitchen appliance manufacturer with more than 300 years of history; Villeroy & Boch, now in its ninth generation, for refined bathroom fixtures; and Hansgrohe for bathroom fittings designed to create a sense of serenity.
Adding to this are Italian furniture brand Molteni&C for its bespoke wardrobes, as well as Malaysian firms GDP Architects, Edo Yvonne Design Assembly, and Walrus, each contributing their overall expertise in the landmark development to offer residents a harmonious balance of privacy, greenery and timeless design.
The vision continues with the appointment of SPACE Group from Australia as Eden Taman Duta’s show unit interior design partner.
Drawing on 30 years of experience in the Asia Pacific region and inspiration from some of the world’s most respected design houses, SPACE has crafted Eden Taman Duta’s interiors to balance sophistication with quiet comfort.
“Every room tells a story,” says its interiors and business development head (Asia Pacific) David Hartikainen.
“Eden Taman Duta gives us the opportunity to translate that story into living spaces that express who the homeowner is, and how they want to live.”
In addition, residents of Eden Taman Duta will have access to SPACE Atelier, a bespoke design service, to personalise their interiors.
The partnership between BRDB and SPACE was a deliberate decision, rooted in a shared vision of shaping environments that are timeless, personal and intentional, says BRDB’s deputy chief executive officer Yasmin Khan.
“When developing Eden Taman Duta, we decided early on in a partner to bring leading brands available to us to create spaces and interiors that speak to each Eden Taman Duta resident’s personal aesthetic, so that they can bring to life a home that is unique and expresses individuality.
“We’re delighted to have SPACE collaborate with us, bringing their design mastery and experience to the Eden Taman Duta Show Unit.”
An enduring pursuit of balance
With two decades in the making, Eden Taman Duta emerges as a culmination of patience, perspective and pedigree. It is a reflection of the company’s 61-year DNA, shaped by a deep understanding of real estate, a wealth of experience and a strong sense of design philosophy.
For Yasmin, the project also reflects how the company sees the future of residential living.
“Eden Taman Duta is not just about redefining refined living. It’s about shaping the future of how people experience design, craftsmanship and homes for the next generation.”
Ultimately, Christopher adds, BRDB sees its role as building homes and community spaces that stand the test of time. He points to its stewardship of Bangsar Shopping Centre and residential projects such as Sri Penaga, Tivoli, One Menerung and Serai as part of a broader commitment to long-term placemaking rather than momentary impact.
He hopes that Eden Taman Duta will be remembered as a lasting addition to the enclave; a development that upholds the character of its surroundings while offering a vision of timeless living.
“Within BRDB’s broader journey, it represents continuity. We believe that quality and thoughtful design will always outlast trends,” he says.
