A prestigious UK degree closer to home

The state-of-the-art UoRM campus at EduCity, Iskandar Puteri in Johor.

THOUGH graduating with a UK degree presents a host of advantages, the costs are no small matter.

Now, with reputable and renowned universities opening up international branch campuses in Malaysia, students have the chance to pursue a UK degree at affordable costs.

One such esteemed institution is the University of Reading Malaysia (UoRM), which is wholly-owned and operated by the University of Reading – listed in the Top 100 in the world for International Outlook by Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021.

Best of both worlds

The branch campus in Malaysia was established in 2013 and opened the doors to its state-of-the-art complex in 2015.

Students enjoy the best of both worlds – the same University of Reading degree but at a significantly more affordable cost.

Those who study for their full degree pay only 40% of the overall estimated costs compared with studying at the UK campus – taking into account fees and living expenses.

World-leading schools, career-enabling programmes

Five of the University of Reading’s world-leading schools and institutions are represented at the Malaysia campus:

  • Henley Business School

  • School of Law

  • School of the Built Environment

  • School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences

  • Foundation Studies and Language Institute

The campus offers a number of the university’s “signature” degree programmes in professional disciplines where there is a demand and which provide excellent career opportunities.

All of the degrees carry relevant industry and professional recognition, enhancing graduate employability.

UoRM also benefits from an experienced, dedicated and highly-qualified academic team with 75% teaching undergraduate programmes being PhD-holders and many possessing relevant industry experience.

Holistic education

A key benefit of studying at UoRM is that students not only receive the same degree as that awarded at the Reading UK campus, but they also benefit from the same pedagogy and academic environment designed to develop students holistically for future success.

Stunning campus at EduCity

UoRM’s state-of-the-art campus in Malaysia is a spacious, modern facility that houses IT-enabled classrooms, lecture theatres, a learning resource centre and student social areas.

Based in EduCity – Asia’s first multi-campus education city located in Iskandar Puteri Johor – students enjoy a range of facilities and a plentiful choice of affordable accommodation options, including the student village within EduCity or nearby serviced apartments.

A benefit of living away from home is that it helps students develop independence and self-discipline.

Excellent digital learning support

During the pandemic, the Higher Education Ministry requires all institutions to switch to online learning.

UoRM benefits from the same advanced digital learning tools and support available on the UK campus while students also have round-the-clock access to the university’s digital library.

Study UK option

Students at UoRM can take advantage of the flexible mobility options to spend one or even two years at the UK campus in Reading.

This may particularly appeal to parents who wish to send their children to study in the UK but are concerned about travel restrictions and health and safety in the current pandemic situation.
