PETALING JAYA: Two national wingers Faisal Halim and Akhyar Rashid continue to show progress after their recent harrowing experiences.

Selangor Football Club (SFC) technical committee chairman Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar said Faisal has been showing more positive signs after undergoing a successful third surgery on Thursday evening.

Shahril said the player, who suffered an acid attack on Sunday, looked cheerful and has started to walk.

"I've been informed that Faisal is in good mood but what makes me more excited is the fact that he can walk to the bathroom. That’s a good development," he said.

Faisal, who is better known as Mickey among the footballing community, has done three surgeries so far and is expected to go for one or two more and continue his recovery process at the hospital for at least three weeks.

Meanwhile, Akhyar has also been recovering well after he was involved in a robbery and assault at his residence in Kuala Terengganu on May 2.

His teammate Akram Mahinan said Akhyar is expected to return and play for the team soon.

"He was traumatised after the the incident but it all looked positive when I last spoke to him. He was in better spirit and his injuries have been healing too.

"He might not be available for our first game but we expect him to come back soon.

"We will all play for him when we take on Perak at the Sultan Mizan Stadium in Gong Badak tomorrow (today).
