Aug 23 (Reuters) - Barcelona began their LaLiga title defence and bid for a third successive crown with a 5-0 victory at Elche on Sunday as Raphinha and Fermin Lopez scored twice each.
Captain Raphinha opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 14th minute after Victor Chust fouled him inside the box.
Karim Adeyemi marked his Barcelona debut with the second goal in added time before the break, racing on to Raphinha's pass before finishing past the goalkeeper. Raphinha added his second in the 67th minute from substitute Anthony Gordon's pass.
Gordon claimed another assist four minutes later, carrying the ball from his own half before setting up Fermin for a tap-in. The midfielder completed the rout in the 79th minute, turning past his marker on the edge of the box and firing home.
