Debutants Rui Jie-Nurqayyum splash to gold in diving synchro

BANGKOK: Debutants Yong Rui Jie and Nurqayyum Nazmi Mohd Nazim closed Malaysia's diving campaign on a high note by winning the men's 3m springboard synchro event at Assumption University Aquatic Center in Samut Prakan on Friday (Dec 19). 

Rui Jie-Nurqayyum, both 19, chalked up a total of 359.85 points from six dives to beat Thailand pairing Chawanwat Juntaphadon-Thitipoom Marksin, who earned 335.70. 

Anh Tuan Dinh-Hoang Tu Dang scored 322.35 points to clinch bronze for Vietnam.

Malaysia thus bagged the two gold medals at stake on the final day of competition. 

Nur Eilisha Rania-Nurul Farisya Alia Affendi had won the women's 10m platform synchro event earlier.
