PETALING JAYA: Schools intending to hold their sports day can apply to use the facilities at the National Sports Stadium in Bukit Jalil and two other facilities for free come October.

Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh announced the initiative during the Kuala Lumpur Sports City's (KLSC) 25th anniversary celebrations in Bukit Jalil tonight.

The two other venues are the Jalan Duta Sports Complex as well as the Bukit Kiara Sports Complex.

"The Malaysia Stadium Corporation members meeting on July 17 approved this initiative for school sports use.

"It will be done for a period of two years. We are doing this in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of KLSC.

"This will begin once the works at the stadium have completed in October.

"Schools can book these venues for their sports days on dates which the stadium is not booked for other events," said Hannah, who also lauded the implementation of several initiatives implemented in recent times.

This includes the opening of the National Stadium running track to the general public free on designated days, the collaboration program with D Swim Academy (DSA) in organizing a swimming programme for the B40 people and opening the use of the stadium as a sports hub for people who do not have the opportunity.

Hannah also hoped that KLSC managed by PSM will continue to strengthen aspects of governance and stadium management so that it remains the venue of choice for organisers in the country and abroad.
