Li Jane seeks rebound at US Open after fall to Snodgrass

PETALING JAYA: National bowler Sin Li Jane is determined to bounce back at the US Open tomorrow after settling for second best at the PWBA Barbara Chrisman Classic in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday.

The 34-year-old Malaysian lost 198-250 to American Jordan Snodgrass in the title match at HP Lanes.

“Overall, I’m happy with my performance. I have been doing well and I’m looking forward to the US Open,” said Li Jane, although the loss was a little hard for her to take.

The last time Li Jane and Snodgrass met in a championship round at the 2024 PWBA Tour Championship, it was the former who had the last laugh, defeating the then No. 1 seed to claim her fourth career title and second major of the year – a victory that anchored her PWBA Player of the Year-winning season.

The script, however, was flipped in Columbus. Snodgrass topped qualifying as the No. 1 seed, and this time she made it count.

Li Jane, seeded second and chasing her second title of the 2026 season, had looked sharp in the semi-finals. She fired seven strikes in nine frames to dispatch Shannon Pluhowsky of Dayton, Ohio, 256-188 and advance to the title match.

But Li Jane could not carry that momentum into the showdown as Snodgrass came out blazing with six straight strikes.

While a Big 4 split in the seventh frame threatened to derail her, Snodgrass recovered immediately with three more strikes to seal the match and finish with 250 to claim her seventh PWBA title.

Li Jane closed out with 198 for the runner-up finish.
