PETALING JAYA: Women's doubles pair Low Zi Yu-Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan booked their place in the Taiwan Open quarter-finals after upsetting third seeds Hsu Yin-hui-Lin Jhih-yun on Thursday (July 30).

Zi Yu-Noraqilah looked set to take the opening game before the Taiwanese pair fought back to snatch it at the Taipei Arena.

The Malaysians responded by taking the next two games to seal a 20-22, 21-13, 21-11 victory over the world No. 11 pair in 56 minutes.

They will play Hathaithip Mijad-Napapakorn Tungkasatan of Thailand next.

Top seeds Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah survived an early scare before fighting back to beat Taiwan's Chen Yan-fei-Sun Liang-chi to book their place in the quarter-finals.

Pearly-Thinaah dropped the opening game but regained their composure to force a decider before sealing an 11-21, 21-12, 21-15 victory in 43 minutes.

They will next face another Taiwanese pair, Lin Chih-chun-Yang Chu-yun, for a place in the semi-finals.

Joining them in the quarter-finals were men's doubles pair Aaron Chia-Aaron Tai, who defeated Taiwan's Lai Po-yu-Tsai Fu-cheng 21-16, 21-13.
