PETALING JAYA: Shuttler Lee Zii Jia's Taiwan Open campaign came to an end after he lost to reigning All-England champion Lin Chun-yi in the second round on Thursday (July 30).
Zii Jia pushed the second seed local favourite all the way and forced the match into a decider, but ultimately fell 20-22, 21-11, 18-21 in 54 minutes at the Taipei Arena,
It was a different story for fellow Malaysian Justin Hoh, who battled back to beat Indonesia's Prahdiska Bagas 14-21, 21-11, 21-14 and book his place in the quarter-finals.
Justin faces Yoo Tae-bin of South Korea next.
Earlier, mixed doubles pair Low Han Chen-Chan Wen Tse bowed out after losing 18-21, 17-21 to Taiwan's Wu Guan-xun-Lee Chia-hsin.
Chen Tang Jie-Clarissa San also crashed out after going down 21-17, 12-21, 16-21 to Thailand's Ruttanapak Oupthong-Jhenicha Sudjaipraparat.
