Sze Fei-Izzuddin fight back to reach Thailand Open semis

PETALING JAYA: World No. 7 men’s doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani continued their impressive run in the Thailand Open by advancing to the semi-finals after defeating Scotland’s Christopher Grimley-Matthew Grimley on Friday (May 15).

In the quarter-final match at Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok, Sze Fei-Izzuddin were made to work hard before completing a comeback win, beating the Scottish pair 19-21, 21-15, 21-8 in 50 minutes.

"I think we struggled a bit in the first set, but we’re glad that we could come back in the second and third.

"They played quite well today and the game plan wasn't suitable for us, so we tried to change it," said Izzuddin in an interview with Badminton World Federation (BWF).

They will face top seeds Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty on Saturday (May 16) for a place in the final for the first time.
