PETALING JAYA: Women’s doubles shuttler Teoh Mei Xing may need a strong result soon if she hopes to earn a permanent partnership in the national squad.
The 29-year-old will partner Cheng Su Hui at the China Masters, which begins today in Baoji, marking the 15th different partner of her career in the women’s doubles since her junior days.
Mei Xing-Su Hui will face Russia’s Anastasiia Boiarun-Daria Kharlampovich in the opening round.
Su Hui is Mei Xing’s second partner since splitting with Go Pei Kee earlier this year.
She previously competed alongside Tan Zhing Hui in three tournaments, with their best result coming at the Singapore International Series in March, where they reached the semi-finals.
According to women’s doubles head coach Rosman Razak, the coaching team are still searching for a suitable partner for Mei Xing as he does not want to risk breaking up established pairs in the senior squad because it could disrupt the overall setup of the team.
“As everyone knows, Mei Xing still does not have a permanent partner. So far, I have not made any major changes involving the senior players.
“At the moment, Mei Xing will also continue playing in the mixed doubles with Tan Zhi Yang.”
Mei Xing-Zhi Yang will also compete in the China Masters but must begin from the qualifying rounds against home pair Ma Xixiang-Qin Huizhi.
