PETALING JAYA: Lee Zii Jia will have little time to dwell on his US Open disappointment after being handed an immediate chance to avenge his defeat to K. Srikanth (pic) at the Canadian Open next week.
Zii Jia’s run at the US Open ended in the second round after he went down 14-21, 13-21 to the former world No. 1 at the Titan Gymnasium in California State University, Fullerton, on Thursday.
“Thank you US Open. While it is not the desired result, it’s another step in regaining physical and match fitness,” Team LZJ posted on their official social media account after the match.
The Malaysian has been drawn to face Srikanth again in the opening round of the Canadian Open starting on Tuesday.
It will be the ninth meeting between the two since their first clash at the Hylo Open in 2021.
The Canadian Open will complete a demanding four-week stretch for Zii Jia, following appearances at the Australian Open, Macau Open and US Open.
