PETALING JAYA: Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah’s dream run at the All-England came to an end in the semi-finals after they were beaten by South Korea’s Baek Ha-na-Lee Soo-hee on Saturday (March 7).
The World Championships runners-up Pearly-Thinaah went down 17-21, 18-21 to Baek Ha-na-Lee Soo-hee in a 68-minute match in Birmingham.
Despite the defeat, the Malaysians can take pride in ending the country’s 19-year wait for a women’s doubles semi-final appearance, last achieved by Wong Pei Tty-Chin Ee Hui in 2007.
Pearly said their opponents were more patient.
"They were more patient than us in each rally. We were rushing, especially during the last few points. We have to learn from this," said Pearly.
Chipped in Thinaah: "We were more defensive. I think during those shots we should have counter-attacked more, but credit to our opponents for playing well.
"They were patient and their attacking play was also aggressive.
"We have to take note of this and come back stronger."
