PETALING JAYA: French shuttler Brice Leverdez is counting on the hours he put in for high altitude training to provide him the edge to upstage group favourite Lee Zii Jia and make it out of the group stage for the first time in his third Olympics appearance.

The 35-year-old said the unorthordox method he adopted in the last few weeks leading to the Games helped to get him into the best possible shape to take on his younger and fitter opponents.
