Zii Jia suffers first-round exit from Macau Open

PETALING JAYA: Men’s singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia has made an early exit from the Macau Open when he was sent packing in the opening round on Wednesday (June 17).

World No. 63 Zii Jia seemed to lack the energy to keep up with world No. 43, youngster Prahdiska Bagas of Indonesia, as he fell 12-21, 20-22 in 38 minutes at the Macau East Asian Games Dome.

The first-round exit comes as another blow for Zii Jia. It is his fifth straight tournament where he bowed out in the opening round, following poor outings at the Australian Open, Thailand Open, Orleans Masters and Swiss Open.

Meanwhile, the campaign also ended for Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin after he fell to top seed Angus Ng Ka Long of Hong Kong.

World No. 25 Angus took 38 minutes to win 21-19, 21-13 against world No. 83 Aidil.
