COPENHAGEN: Women doubles shuttlers Lee Meng Yean-Lim Yin Loo were literally seeing double on court.
Meng Yen-Yin Loo went down to twins Luo Ying-Luo Yu of China 7-21, 15-21 in 42 minutes in a World Championships second round match at the Ballerup Super Arena on Wednesday.
“They look alike, they wore everything the same ... even the knee guards (on their left legs) were identical. We took some time to get used to their game before picking up pace,” said Yin Loo.
After dropping the first game 7-21, the Malaysians did well to make their opponents sweat before going down 15-21.
“We took to the court without any fear. We did well to turn the tempo in the second game but our opponents were just more patient,” said Yin Loo.
“They are quality players but I believe we are not too far behind them. Meng Yean and I can go far and we must not be satisfied with early exits like this.”
While the Malaysians slumped, Indonesia’s Anggia Shitta Awanda-Della Destiara Haris were jumping for joy.
The unknowns dumped top seeds Bao Yixin-Tang Jinhua of China with a sensational 21-14, 21-18 win to march into the third round.
