PETALING JAYA: Malaysia may have only won a solitary medal at the Asian Championships in Bangkok but two exceptional athletes – Irfan Shamsuddin and Mohd Azeem Fahmi – have proven they can take on the best in the continent.

The five-day athletics meet, which ended on Sunday, saw Irfan securing the bronze medal in the men’s discus by registering 59.63m.
