WOMEN, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri recently announced that Malaysia will be hosting the Silver Economy Forum 2026 (SEF26), a global summit devoted to policy, business and collaborative solutions to maximise the potential of the ageing society worldwide.
Scheduled for Nov 11–12, Malaysia’s hosting of this event is timely as our ageing population is growing fast, with statistics showing that by 2030, one in six Malaysians will be aged 60 and above. But rather than seeing this demographic as a burden, we should recognise them as a new source of strength.
